Padrins Lectors
This year, the third and fourth year students of ESO, we worked at i5 in a volunteer project to support the reading learning process.
Needs:
Some parents do not know the language because there are many newcomers, especially from Latin America and the Maghreb.
There is only one teacher for 25 children and it is difficult to attend to the diversity.
The children must improve their reading skills in order to continue learning.
Involvement
We, as sponsors, have dedicated the only free afternoon we have to help the children read in order to motivate them and spend a fun afternoon with them.
Benefits
The child always has someone looking out for him/her and this increases his/her motivation.
Our participation complements the work that parents cannot carry out at home.
We become the teacher’s assistants.
We learn to deal with the children and empathize with the school situation.
They associate reading with a rewarding and enjoyable time, motivating them to read more.
In the future, these children will be able to teach the language to their parents.
