Erasmus+ Students Embrace Learning, Volunteering, and Cultural Exploration in Girona

From October 16th to 19th, 2023, Erasmus+ students embarked on a transformative journey in Girona, Spain, where education, volunteering, and cultural exploration seamlessly intertwined. Hosted by Bell-lloc, the four-day experience left an indelible mark on all participants, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, social responsibility, and global citizenship.
Day 1: October 16th
The week commenced with engaging team-building activities, fostering trust and cooperation among students. Gonzalo Martínez from Cooperación Internacional shed light on the power of volunteering, inspiring students with the “Supongo” campaign addressing immigration crises. Eleni Fazaki from IDEC conducted a workshop on effective use of the “Students’ Diaries” platform, enhancing digital literacy and creativity. The day concluded with a captivating exploration of Girona’s Old Town, featuring its historical landmarks, including the Girona Cathedral and the Jewish Quarter.
Day 2: October 17th
Students participated in a meaningful volunteering activity at Estanys of Sils, organized by Fundació Emys. Their task involved cleaning and repairing bird nests in the area, underscoring their commitment to environmental preservation. The day concluded with a reflective workshop, encouraging empathy and understanding of their impact on the community.
Day 3: October 18th
Students delved into creative expression by generating multimedia content on the “Students’ Diaries” platform. Peer collaboration and feedback sessions enhanced their content creation skills, promoting collaboration and artistic growth. The day emphasized the power of constructive criticism and learning from each other’s work.
Day 4: October 19th
The program culminated with a cultural exploration of Barcelona. Students immersed themselves in the whimsical Parc Güell, designed by Antoni Gaudí, and marveled at the awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia, gaining insight into its historical and cultural significance. The experience provided a fitting conclusion, highlighting the fusion of artistic brilliance and natural wonder that defines Spanish culture.
Throughout the four days, Erasmus+ students exemplified the essence of volunteering, cultural exchange, and collaboration. Their shared experiences reinforced the values of environmental stewardship, empathy, and respect for diverse cultures. As they bid farewell to Girona, the students carried with them not just memories, but a deepened sense of social responsibility and a global perspective that will undoubtedly shape their future endeavors.
